1999-2006 VW Golf, Jetta, Beetle alternator Note the options. 2.0 and 1.8t came with options of 70 amp, 90 amp or 120 amp Vr6 had 120 amp alternators TDI cars with the auto transmission had 90 amp alternators, and with manual transmission they had 120 amp alternators. There may be some exceptions to those rules. Also note, 1998 beetles with the TDI had a different style alternator, they are interchangeable with an adaptor harness.
